The Canoe on Bubb Lake

The Canoe on Bubb Lake

From cnyhiking.com: Bubb and Sis Lakes are and easy hike for the whole family.  Both lakes are located near the Old Forge - Inlet area in Fulton Chain Wild Forest of the Adirondacks.  It's a short 1.8 mile round trip hike to view points of both lakes or you can continue on the well worn path and include a loop around Moss Lake for a longer, almost seven mile hike.  We would suggest doing this hike, then drive over to explore the Moss Lake Loop.

From the marked parking area off NY 28, take the well worn trail into the woods.  The first part of this hike the trail climbs steady, but is easy for most hikers.  Soon pass a trail register and sign marking mileage to the lakes and other trails.  At 0.25 miles pass the junction of the Vista Trail on your left.  Soon after the trail levels off as you continue on the main trail.

There are some newly built sections that bypass wet areas that are a welcomed relief.  At 0.5 miles an unmarked herd path leaves the main trail to a view point on the shores of Bubb Lake (see pano above).  After enjoying the view turn back to the main trail and decide if you want to continue to Sis Lake or make a short day of it and head back.

If you continue on, at 0.9 miles go straight where the main trail turns right and head to a view point on the shores of Sis Lake.  To return simply retrace your steps back to the parking area.
